Dancing with Easy Money Big Band in the Showroom Turning Stone Casino
In July of 1971, a musical explosion occurred. On that date, after two moderately successful albums, The Allman Brothers Band released "Live At The Fillmore East," changing the shape of rock music forever. In that one masterwork, the Allman Brothers defined the term "Southern Rock" and set the standard for thousands of acts that followed. Who can forget the feeling that surged through them the first time they heard Statesboro Blues? In Memory of Elizabeth Reed? Whipping Post? Well, now that feeling is back. Les Brers, a musical tribute to the music of the Allman Brothers Band, is thrilling sold out audiences, as they recreate not just the music but the whole spirit of an Allman Brothers show. But their first performance at Unity Hall will be unlike any other Les Brers Show you’ve ever seen. In 1990, The Allman Brothers were not only one of the biggest bands in the world but were also one of the rocking-est. So it was a major departure when they appeared on MTV’s groundbreaking Unplugged series playing acoustic versions of some of their most well-known tunes. The result was so successful the acoustic set became a standard part of their subsequent tour. Well, now the ultimate Allman Brothers tribute band is paying tribute to that legendary MTV performance with “Les Brers Unplugged,” an acoustic night of Allman Brothers music. Of course the classic tunes that you'd expect are there, faithful to the original, but completely reworked into a whole new form. Go Ahead. Close your eyes. Open your mind. You'll swear you're back at the Fillmore. Or at least on MTV. Tickets for this concert are $10 for UHF members and $12 for non members. Doors open at 7:30pm and the show begins at 8:00pm. This event is sponsored by the Unity Hall Foundation, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1995 to maintain the Hall as a center for the arts and community activities in Barneveld, New York. The Hall is available for public and private functions. Tickets may be purchased locally at The Adirondack Cheese Company in Barneveld. Tickets and information about this and other Unity Hall events are available online at www.unityhall.com, and Facebook/HistoricUnityHall.
